Immobileyes Awarded $25K from Morgenthaler-Pavey Startup Competition
Cleveland, OH (February 4, 2021) – Immobilieyes, Inc., a laser defense systems startup, has been selected as the 2021 Morgenthaler-Pavey Startup Competition (MPSC) winner. Participating companies gave a five-minute virtual pitch in front of an audience of entrepreneurs, mentors, investors and community members on Thursday, February 4th.
The competition was created to support high-potential startup companies whose founding teams include at least one currently enrolled Case Western Reserve University student or alumnus. The competition places students on both sides of the financing process, as submissions for the competition were reviewed by CWRU’s entrepreneurial finance class.
In addition to supporting CWRU student and alumni ventures, the competition also honors the legacy of David Morganthaler, who passed away in 2016. Morgenthaler, a venture capital industry titan, served as president, chairman or director of more than 30 companies and was one of the earliest venture capitalists to back legendary tech startups such as Apple and Nextel. Morgenthaler Ventures has raised more than $3 billion and helped more than 325 startups.
Participating in and winning the competition has validated the ground-breaking potential for Immobileyes’ technology. As the trend for riots and protests increase, the need for a safer non-lethal security device to protect law enforcement becomes more prevalent. Immobileyes’ CEO Atossa Alavi said, “I am honored that Immobileyes was recognized by the Moranthaler Pavey panel of judges as the winning company because of the relevance and game-changing potential of the technology we are developing. As a Case alum, I am grateful for the continued support of the CWRU community as they never fail to provide enriching resources and valuable connections”.
