Immobileyes is developing new optical products that use intense light to cause visual disruption. The patented HALAR technology uses multi-color light beams to disorient assailants. Available as a flashlight (Tac Light) and an electronic diversionary device (BLITZ), HALAR is a safe and effective de-escalation tool that fills a critical void in current non-lethal options.

Problem

Existing less-than-lethal tools such as TASERs and pepper spray rely on pain compliance and can cause irreversible harm. Their use often necessitates medical intervention, resulting in delays and provoking adverse public responses. LE officers need safer alternatives.

There is a GAP in non-lethal tools

Solution

HALAR technology causes immediate disorientation or distraction and prompts a reflexive reaction (either closing eyes or turning head) that can temporarily delay and disrupt a suspect’s malicious intent. This can lead to de-escalation without excessive use of force and without using a potentially harmful non-lethal device.

HALAR puts an extra tool in the hands of first responders when they most need it. Its use:

1. Reduces the likelihood of injury to suspects,

2. Minimizes legal liability

3. Helps officer-community relations

All this is achieved without necessitating extra training, overhauling existing equipment, or substantial expenditure. As the products do not require specialized training, they will also be marketable to and demanded by the civilian population as they are more effective and safer than the available alternatives.

HALAR’s patent-protected technology is an alternating Red & Green light flashing in a sequence of proprietary frequencies that have been scientifically proven to multiply vision disruption, disorientation and distraction.

HALAR TacLight

A tactical-size flashlight having the requisite quality white beam that law enforcement officers (LEOs) require with the added HALAR Stun Mode feature.

It easily replaces every-day-carry tactical lights that the majority of LEOs rely on for one-on-one interactions.

HALAR BLITZ

An electronic, non-pyrotechnic flash/sound diversionary device that can be used in place of a “flash-bang.” It removes the risk of harm or firs, is rechargeable and has no storage /ATF restrictions. LEOs who are not trained, or able, to use flash bangs can use the BLITZ.

The Science Behind HALAR™

4 reasons why a flashing Red/Green light is more effective

1. The eye is most sensitive to Green light. Under daylight conditions, the average normal-sighted human eye is most sensitive at a wavelength of 555 nm, resulting in the fact that green light at this wavelength produces the impression of the highest “brightness” compared to light at other wavelengths. AT nighttime, the eye is most sensitive to 507nm (greenish-blue).

2. Exposing the eye to different colors, especially red and green, interferes with depth perception. This is the principle behind 3D glasses at movie theaters, which put red in front of one eye and blue in front of the other to get a 3D effect.

3. Flashing colors interfere with the brain’s perception of objects. Sometimes called the “Kelidecope effect,” they slow down a person’s reaction time.

4. The frequency of a flashing light can significantly increase the distraction and disorientation effects. A flashing light at the right frequency—neither too fast nor too slow—can be more disruptive than a steady light. For instance, flashing white light is more effective at causing disorientation than a steady light, and flashing different colored lights is even more distracting.
